Believe it or not, there’s a right way to sweep & mop, which a lot of people still do incorrectly. Also, knowing how to pick the right accessory for the job is what makes the difference most of the time.
- For indoors, choose a broom with finer bristles & flagged tips to pick up even extra fine dust! And for outdoors, go for stronger, stiffer bristles, which work better to clear porous surfaces.
- To sweep, hold the broom like a canoe paddle, and push your hands in opposite directions to get the most out of every sweeping stroke. Sweep from the outside in so you don’t miss any spots and move the dirt to the centre of the room, where it will be easy to pick up.
- Reduce dust ‘clouding’ by spraying a little window cleaner into any Kress Kleen® broom to keep dust and pet hair from clouding while sweeping!
- Pick the proper dustpan. Minimize that annoying line of dust by choosing any Kress Kleen® dustpan all of which have a soft rubber lip for easier debris pickup.
- Always store brooms head up. It makes them easier to find & protects the bristles. Alternatively, you could hang your broom via the convenient hook at the end of the handle for proper storage making sure the head is not resting on the floor.
- Know your wet mops! Cut-end cotton mops are absorbent & economical but may leave lint & cover less surface area. The highly durable looped-end mops are tail banded for better floor coverage & reduced linting and are 100% launderable. Microfibre mops are more absorbent & efficient than their cotton counterparts.
- Get the right mop moves to get a deep clean. For best performance from your cotton mop, use a figure-eight motion.
- To help prevent bacteria growth, always wash your mops thoroughly after use, wring & store head up in a well ventilated area (preferably outdoors) to dry. Alternatively, you could hang your mop via the convenient hook at the end of the handle for proper storage making sure the mop head is not resting on the floor.
